MEDICAL CODING Medical Coding is the process of assigning standard codes to medical diagnoses and procedures related to the treatment of patients in order to facilitate the collection and analysis of healthcare data Roles and Responsibilities of a Medical Coder: 1. Accurately review patient medical records and other documentation to encode diagnoses and procedures. 2. Assign appropriate codes for medical diagnoses and procedures using approved classification systems such as ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS. 3.
