              Healthcare Coding or medical coding is the process of converting data from medical records and clinical documents into alphanumeric codes. Medical billing process uses these codes to create insurance claims and bills for patients. Medical Coding and Medical Billing aren't the same process but are still connected. For medical coding and billing purpose they use a specific set of codes. ICD, CPT and HCPCS are the main types of codes used for medical coding purpose.

                          International Classification of Diseases or ICD codes are set of codes published and managed by World Health Organisation (WHO). These codes contain signs and symptoms, diseases, or any other abnormal findings. For instance ICD code, K30 denotes functional dyspepsia. 

                             


  

                    Functional Dyspepsia, is a term for recurring symptoms of an upset stomach that have no obvious cause. Functional dyspepsia also is called nonnuclear dyspepsia. Functional dyspepsia is common. It is a constant condition but symptoms don't happen all the time. Symptoms resemble those of an ulcer.

Certain symptoms of functional dyspepsia includes:

  • After eating, you may experience nausea, bloating, stomach pain, or a burning sensation.
  • An early satiety response after eating. Satiety is another word for the sensation of fullness.
  • Stomach ache that doesn't coincide with meals or disappears after eating.
